ACT Health is set to go live with its territory-wide, Epic-based Digital Health Record (DHR) next weekend, following several years of intense preparation.
The $200 million+ system will go live at 45 sites at the same time, including the ACT’s four hospitals, its community health centres, nurse-led walk-in centres and Justice Health, in what has been described as the deepest and broadest implementation of the Epic electronic medical record in Australia.
The DHR implementation also includes Epic’s Beaker laboratory information system, its Radiant radiology information system and its patient administration system, along with its MyChart patient portal.
A version of MyChart has already been rolled out to help with COVID-19 vaccinations and has been branded MyDHR.
All staff have been trained on the new system, with more than 1600 super users also trained.
Clinical, administrative and executive staff from across the ACT’s public health system have undergone go live readiness assessments to ensure the system will switch over smoothly when the DHR goes live on Saturday, November 12.
The platform is replacing more than 40 systems currently in use across the ACT public health system.
