East Gippsland’s Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) and Bass Coast Health have gone live with the Sunrise electronic medical record from Altera Digital Health in their inpatient wards, following go-lives in their emergency departments last year.

The East Gippsland health services joins Latrobe Regional Hospital, West Gippsland Hospital (Warrugal) and Sale Hospital in Central Gippsland in rolling out the EMR, meaning all major hospitals in the region will use the solution.

Sunrise is the flagship EMR of Altera Digital Health, formerly part of the NASDAQ-listed Allscripts group. It is also used by the majority of metropolitan hospitals in South Australia.

The go-live at Latrobe Regional Hospital in 2019 was one of the first implementations of an EMR hosted in Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform in Australia.

The health services are part of the Gippsland Health Alliance, which awarded Altera a tender for an EMR and community health solution in 2017.
